How to Use This Website

Navigating on this site begins with choosing from one of the three parts of the main menu at the top of the screen: Project map, Reflection or Index.
Each chosen menus has its own table of contents.

Project Map: As the name suggests, it serves as a map of the project itself and acts as a compass for this site. The page you are currently on belongs to this part.
After reading this page, it is recommended to read the 'Introduction' next, followed by the table of contents of the 'Project Map'.

Reflection: This is the core part of the project. It branches into two sections.
The content within this 'Reflection' and the 'Myclopedia' in the 'Index' (mentioned later) are interlinked within the text. (See the diagram on the right)
- Mycloperspective： This displays thoughts and ideas conceived through performing works, glimpsing into the backgrounds of composers and their compositions, and delving deeper into some insights. It reflects the dynamic relationships and dialogues that emerge from these glimpses, personal explorations, and reflections, spanning across time and space.
- The Four Lenses： This section examines what is displayed in 'Mycloperspective' through four different ways of engaging with microtones. By placing these four lenses, they provide viewpoints that include the intersection of composers' and works' contexts with my own context, and traces of multilayered dialogues that penetrate past, present, and future.

Index: The Index branches into two indices.
- Myclopedia： This further develops or provides more detailed personal views on the concepts, experiences, and insights mentioned in the 'Reflection'.
- Cyclopedia： This displays the methods, processes, and techniques used to achieve the main objective of this project: liberating or deterritorializing microtones confined within the framework of piano keys.
  It also includes a 'Glossary of Terms' used particularly within the 'Cyclopedia'.

Important Premises for Reading and Understanding the Project:

On Language Choice:
The texts especially within the 'Reflection' were initially written in Japanese to accurately express subtle nuances. The website allows for easy switching between the Japanese and English versions using the language toggle feature in the upper right corner.

On the Philosophical Approach:
I am not a specialist in philosophy, but I often find that I can more intuitively understand the thoughts of Japanese philosophers due to our shared cultural background. Therefore, I reference the insights of Japanese philosophers as much as possible, and when dealing with Western concepts, I also include my own interpretations in the discussion.

On the Expression "Japanese":
In this project, I define the term "Japanese" as follows:
The "Japanese" used in the text refers not to biological classifications or nationalities, but to characteristics formed by the linguistic environment. According to Professor Tadanobu Tsunoda's research, this indicates features observed in individuals who grew up in a Japanese-speaking environment during the critical language formation period from the age of 6 to 9.

Specifically:

This includes not only people born in Japan but also foreigners who were raised in a Japanese language environment during this period.
Conversely, even if someone holds Japanese nationality, if they spent this period abroad, they will possess different linguistic characteristics.

On Electronic Devices:
The primary reason for not using electronic devices in this project’s 'artistic results' is to explore the inherent possibilities of the piano as an instrument and to liberate microtones that are confined within the framework of piano keys (deterritorialization). Other reasons are mentioned as appropriate within the text.

Explanation of coined terms:

Mycloperspective: A coined term representing personal viewpoints or interpretations of works. It combines "My" (personal) and "Cycloperspective" (cyclical perspective).
Myclopedia: A coined term meaning a personal encyclopedia. It combines "My" (personal) and "Encyclopedia".

このサイトの使い方

このサイトは、画面上部にあるメニューの３つのパートを選ぶところから始まる。
選んだ先のページにそれぞれ目次がある。

Project Map: その名の通り、プロジェクト自体の地図と、このサイトの羅針盤的な役割がある。今居るこのページもこのパートに属する。このページを読んだら次は「イントロダクション」を読み、『Project Map』の目次を読む事を推奨する。

Reflection: このプロジェクトの核となる部分である。ここは二つに枝分かれして居る。この『Reflection』内と後に述べる『Index』内の「Myclopedia」の内容は文章内で相互リンクして居る。（右図参照）
- Mycloperspective：これは、作品を演奏し、作曲家とその作品のバックグラウンドを垣間見て、これらの洞察をさらに掘り下げることを通じて生まれた思考や着想を展示するものである。ここには、バックグラウンドを垣間見た事象、自分なりに掘り下げてみる過程で思い描いたこと、そしてそれらについて考えたことから生まれる、時空を超えた動的な関係性や対話が反映されている。
- 四つのレンズ：「Mycloperspective」でディスプレイされたものを、微分音との４つの異なる関わり方を通して考察して居る。作曲家・作品の文脈と私自身の文脈が交差する場所、過去・現在・未来を貫く多層的な対話の痕跡などが含まれる、４つのレンズを置く事で、その領域を通して見る視点を提供している。

Index: 二つの索引に枝分かれして居る。
- Myclopedia：『Reflection』内で言及された概念、経験、洞察についてより詳細な個人的見解を展開したり、さらに掘り下げて記述している。
- Cyclopedia：このプロジェクトの主要な目的である、既存の鍵盤の枠組みに閉じ込められた微分音を解放する（脱領土化する）ために使用したメソードやプロセス、技術をディスプレイして居る。また、特に「Cyclopedia」内で使用した用語集である「Glossery of Terms」も配置した。

プロジェクトを読む上での重要な前提について：

言語選択について:
特にプロジェクトの『Reflection』内の文章は、繊細なニュアンスを正確に表現するため、まず日本語で執筆した。ウェブサイトでは右上の言語切替機能により、日本語版と英語版を自由に切り替えて読むことが可能。

哲学的アプローチについて:
私は哲学の専門家ではないが、日本の哲学者の考え方は文化的背景を共有しているため直感的な理解が可能な事が多い。そのため、出来るだけ日本の哲学者の知見を参照し、西洋の概念を扱う際は自身の解釈も併記する様にして論を展開している。

「日本人」という表現について:
本プロジェクトにおける「日本人」という表現について、以下のように定義する。：
本文中で使用する「日本人」とは、生物学的な区分や国籍ではなく、言語環境によって形成される特性を指す。角田忠信教授の研究によれば、6歳から9歳という言語形成の重要な時期に日本語を使用する環境で育った人々に見られる特徴を示している。

具体的には：

日本で生まれた人に限らず、この時期に日本語環境で育った外国籍の人も含む。
逆に、日本国籍であっても、この時期を海外で過ごした場合は異なる言語特性を持つことになる。

相互リンクについて:
リンクする際に、『Project Map』、『Reflection』、『Index』、の３つのエリアを越境する場合には新しいウィンドウが開く様になって居る。

電子機器・楽器について:
このプロジェクトにおいて電子機器を基本的に使用しない最大の理由は、ピアノという楽器本来の可能性を探求し、既存の鍵盤の枠組みに閉じ込められた微分音を解放する（脱領土化する）ことを目指しているためである。その他の理由については本文中で適宜言及している。

造語の説明:

Mycloperspective （マイクロパースペクティブ）: 作品に対する個人的な視点や解釈を表す造語。「My」（私の）と「Cycloperspective」（循環する視点）を組み合わせた言葉。
